✂️ Fabric & Cutting Instructions

For a 9″ finished block, you’ll need:

  • 4 (3¼″) squares – Fabric A

  • 2 (2¾″) squares – Fabric A

  • 5 (3¼″) squares – Fabric B

  • 5 (3¼″) squares – Fabric C

🩷 Tip: Use this section to plan your fabric combinations and test how light and dark shades balance within the heart shape. Prints, solids, and tone-on-tone fabrics all work beautifully.

🪡 Piecing Instructions

Step 1 – Half-Square Triangles (HSTs):
On the wrong side of each 3¼″ Fabric A square, draw a diagonal line from corner to corner.
Pair Fabric A with B and C squares, right sides together. Stitch a scant ¼″ seam on both sides of the drawn line. Cut along the line to create two HSTs.

Repeat to make:

  • (4) A–B HSTs

  • (4) A–C HSTs

  • (6) B–C HSTs

Press seams toward the darker fabric and trim each HST to 2¾″.

Step 2 – Assemble the Heart:
Lay out your trimmed HSTs along with (2) 2¾″ Fabric A squares following the layout diagram in the pattern.
Sew pieces into rows, pressing seams in alternating directions. Join the rows together, pressing seams open for a smooth finish.

Trim your completed block to 9½″ to finish at 9″ once sewn into your quilt.
