Gauge:

To ensure your booties turn out the right size, please check your gauge:
Gauge: 7 stitches = 2” [5 cm]; 4 rounds = 2” [5 cm] in half double crochet (hdc).
Note: Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Sizes:

3-6 months: Sole length 4” [10 cm]
6-9 months: Sole length 4½” [11.5 cm]
9-12 months: Sole length 5” [12.5 cm]

Special Stitch

• hdc2tog (half double crochet 2 stitches together): [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop] 2 times, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook.

Bootie Pattern (Make 2)

Round 1 (Right Side): With first color, chain 9 (11, 13).
Work 2 hdc in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in next 6 (8, 10) chains, 6 hdc in last chain.
Working across opposite side of foundation chain, hdc in next 6 (8, 10) chains, 2 hdc in next chain; join with slip stitch in first hdc—22 (26, 30) hdc.

Round 2: Chain 1, 2 hdc in first stitch, hdc in next 7 (9, 11) stitches, 2 hdc in next 6 stitches, hdc in next 7 (9, 11) stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch; join with slip stitch in first hdc—30 (34, 38) hdc.

Round 3: Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around; join with slip stitch in first sc. Fasten off.

Round 4: With right side facing, join second color with slip stitch in same stitch as joining, repeat Round 3.

Round 5: Chain 1, single crochet in first 9 (11, 13) single crochets, [hdc2tog] 6 times, single crochet in last 9 (11, 13) single crochets; join with slip stitch in first sc—24 (28, 32) stitches.

Round 6: Chain 1, single crochet in first 8 (10, 12) stitches, [hdc2tog] 4 times, single crochet in next 8 (10, 12) stitches; join with slip stitch in first sc—20 (24, 28) stitches. Fasten off.

Finishing
Set two booties side by side. Place a marker at the center of the inside edge of each bootie.
Strap and Trim:

Join first color with slip stitch in marked stitch, chain 18 (20, 22) for strap, single crochet in same stitch and each stitch around; join with slip stitch in first slip stitch. Fasten off.

Sew a button to the top edge of each bootie, opposite the strap. Weave in ends.
